WW2-ERA SUBMARINERS

Request for Help

I am undertaking research for a second book on the social history of British submariners.
The first concerned life at sea, training etc. of WW1 submariners, so naturally enough I would like to write a similar work about WW2.
Have you any members in your Association who served aboard submarines in WW2 (or the immediate pre- and post-war period), and who would be interested in answering some questions and revealing some anecdotes about life at sea during this period? The ultimate goal would be for these to be included in a published work.
I would be grateful if you would pass this request on to other submariners' associations if it is convenient.
Many thanks,
Richard Mackay

FIGHTING 10TH in MALTA 1942/43

Request for Help

HI ! I am the son of C.P.O. BARNETT D.S.M. and I am researching his life with the FIGHTING 10TH in MALTA 1942/43.
He was a founder member of the S.O.C.A. South yorkshire branch in the 60s. I wonder if any of your members knew my dad, and if so would share info for my book.
Many thanks.

Based at Blyth, Northumberland
1939 to 1941

Request for Help

A television documentary is shortly to be made on the story of the 6th Submarine Flotillas which as you will know, was based in Blyth, Northumberland.
We are interested in setting up interviews with men who may have served operationally from Blyth 1939-1941 in the following boats: Ursula, Undine*,Starfish*, Seahorse*, Unity* Sturgeon, Sunfish, Sealion, Narwhal*, Seal*, Porpoise and Spearfish
You will see that I have marked the boats that were lost with an asterisk.
If you know of anyone who may have the background we are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact me. We are happy to travel.
