During October 1939 H32 patrolled the Dogger Bank area.
In March 1941 when Scharnhorst and Gneisenau were at large, all submarine and anti submarine training was halted and H32 together with H33 and H50 left Rothesay for Falmouth.
31st March 1941 saw H32 patrolling off Brest. On 1 April she had to return because her foreword hydroplanes were out of action.
In December 1941 H32 was running out of Portsmouth and patrolling off Cherbourg.
