In March 1941 when Scharnhorst and Gneisenau were at large, all submarine and anti submarine training was halted
and H50 together with H32 and H33 left Rothesay for Falmouth.
31st March 1941 saw H50 patrolling off Brest. Early in April she had to return because of a shortage of fuel.
In February 1942 under the command of Lt Cmd E.T Stanley, H50 was patrolling off Brest.
